This is one of the most common questions we get from parents enrolling for the first time, and it's a fair one — the names sound similar, and most parents searching for "online Quran classes" have never had to make this distinction themselves.
Noorani Qaida: The Starting Point for Everyone
Noorani Qaida is the foundation course. It teaches the Arabic alphabet, the correct pronunciation (makhraj) of each letter, and how letters join together to form words — before a student ever opens the Quran itself.
Noorani Qaida is the right starting point if:
- Your child has never learned to read Arabic script before
- They can recognise some letters but struggle to sound out words
- You're an adult beginner starting from zero
Quran Nazirah: Reading the Quran Itself, with Tajweed
Quran Nazirah picks up where Noorani Qaida leaves off. Students read directly from the Quran's text, page by page, while the tutor corrects pronunciation and introduces the rules of Tajweed (correct recitation) as they go.
Quran Nazirah is the right starting point if:
- Your child can already read Arabic letters and simple joined words correctly
- They've completed Noorani Qaida previously (with us or elsewhere)
- They can read but you want their Tajweed and fluency actively corrected
Not Sure Which One Fits?
This is exactly what the free trial class is for. In a short assessment, a tutor can listen to your child read a few lines and tell you immediately which course matches their level.
What Comes After?
Once a student reads fluently with correct Tajweed, many families move on to Hifz (memorisation) — see our guide on signs your child is ready for Hifz — or Tarjuma (translation and meaning).
